Our Doctor

Meet Dr. Jed D. Hillmer of Hillmer Eye Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota.

Dr. Jed D. Hillmer

Dr. Hillmer graduated in 2006 from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, with distinction. He is a 2002 graduate of North Dakota State University, and during his time there he was a member of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society and was also named to the 2002 edition of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

While at Pacific, he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and Amigo’s – with whom he completed an eye care mission trip to Moldova. He completed clinical externships at Northwest Eye Care Professionals in Clackamas, Oregon focusing on neuro-rehabilitative optometry; at Discover Vision Centers in Kansas City, Missouri focusing on corneal disease, glaucoma, refractive surgery co-management, cataract co-management, and retinal disease; and the Black Hills VA Medical Center in Hot Springs, South Dakota, focusing on diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and low vision.

In December of 2010 he purchased Renier Optometric Clinic from Dr. Gary L. Renier, establishing Hillmer Eye Clinic.  Dr. Hillmer also provides neuro-optometric rehabilitative consultations at the Sanford South University Eye Clinic.

Dr. Hillmer is a member of the North Dakota Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of the North Dakota Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes Program.  Locally, he is a member of the Fargo Lions and the Knights of Columbus, and he frequently speaks on the topics of  “The Aging Eye” and “Vision and Falling.” Dr. Hillmer resides in north Fargo with his wife, Annika, and their children.
